Schedule for the Canyoning trip Bruckgraben in the Nationalpark Gesäuse in Styria:
After meeting early at 8.00 a.m in the camp, you will be introduced to your guide and get all the necessary gear for the trip. Then we will drive you to the starting point of the tour. What follows is probably the hardest part of the trip: a 1,5 hour long hike to the top of the canyon that requires a good condition from the participants.
After the tiring way up and the safety briefing of the guides we finally start the trip. What follows are a few abseiling spots, short slides and a few rocks we need to climb down. Suddenly we reach the first deep and narrow part of the canyon - from here on it is no way out but down the canyon! Waterfall after waterfall we descent down, surrounded by tall walls. The trip provides a very special atmosphere of remoteness in beautiful nature.
Following the tracks of the ancient wood workers
What is very interesting about this canyon is also that hundreds of years ago the ancient wood workers used the water of the canyon to transport logs down the gorge. Every now and then we will find leftovers of their old tracks. After around 3-4 hours in the canyon we reach the end - which is the shore of the Enns river. From here a 20 minute walk back to the starting point follows. On hot days it is also possible to swim this section down and enjoy they beautiful mountain range of the Gesäuse Nationalpark. A sporty challenge in one of the most famous canyons of Austria!
